Duct Liner Encapsulation in Davie, Fort Lauderdale, North Miami Beach, FL, and Surrounding Areas
What is a Duct Liner?
In many commercial HVAC systems, the duct-work is lined with fibreglass to reduce noise and to keep conditioned air from escaping on the way to its destination.
What is Duct Liner Encapsulation?
Encapsulation is the process of using a sealant to re-cover the fibreglass lining of the air ducts. If the fibreglass too heavily deteriorates it must be replaced. If the damage isn’t that severe it is possible to re-seal it instead.
What is the harm of a deteriorated duct liner?
As time goes on the fibreglass liner deteriorates exposing the fibres beneath. As air travels through the ducting the exposed fibreglass can come loose and travel through the ducting and into the environment inside the building. Fibreglass in the air can cause respiratory problems for occupants of the building.
What are some benefits of duct liner encapsulation?
Encapsulating your duct lining is more cost-effective than replacing the ducting. Unless the liner deteriorates beyond repair it is easier and cheaper to simply re-seal it. Resealed lining means a restoration of air quality. If there is mould in your duct-work a thorough cleaning followed by encapsulation can prevent further mould problems.
How often should I have my duct liner encapsulated?
Encapsulation is done on an as-needed basis. If you are concerned about the air quality in your building we will do an inspection and if necessary we will recommend this service.
